Typically a material cheaper than used for floors in rest of house, so nearly always pine. But if the builder had left overs or got a batch of something else cheaply, perhaps it's oak or chestnut.

Our house was built either 1924 or 28 I don't remember which. We have hard wood floors throughout except for the basement. But I am wondering if anyone here knows what king of flooring was typically used in attics. It isn't pine, I don't think. It is a coarse grain. Doesn't look like the red oak floors. Just curious.
