Federal Express Delivery

I am expecting a delivery for which I must sign. However I live on the 4th Floor of an Apartment Building and the Fed EX Drivers apparently will not use intercom to tell us package is here so we can go downstairs and sign.

Has anyone ever experienced this problem? Advice?

In my experience, if they don't reach you to sign, you'll receive a message that the item is at a FedEx facility where you can pick it up.

Thanks. I know that but I did not want to go out to a Fed Ex office. The very reason I ordered delivery was to avoid outside contact as much as possible.

After a call to Fed Ex where we ended up talking to someone at a call center which might have been in India who couldn't understand what were were saying we reached a woman who understood and was very helpful and we later received a call back from Federal Express acknowledging the problem and understanding our explanation of how the intercom in the building works. Additionally I left a note pasted to the door to the Lobby explaining  what the delivery person should do.

Thanks for responding.

I receive a lot of FedEx shipments (orchids).  Depending upon time of the year, I leave a note with special instructions on my front door (in the summer: Pls put box in the shade at the back of the house, etc.).

I find that FedEx drivers generally read and comply.  USPS employees less so.

Fed EX is not requiring signatures at this time. They are just leaving at front door after ringing bell. I have had 3 packages deliver this week that would normally require a signature.

Is there a way to set it up so they call or text when the package is delivered?

A delivery of wine must be signed for by an adult.

When we tried to explain the intercom to a person at the Fed Ex call center he kept repeating over and over that drivers can't call customers and when we tried to explain that that was not what we were asking he disconnected the call!

We finally got a responsive person on the phone and even got a call back. We will see what happens today when the delivery has now been re-scheduled.

Thank you all for your responses

The problem continues. Email from Fed Ex at about 4:00 PM claims driver was here at around 2:30. We have been sitting here waiting for someone to call on intercom. No one did. I left a sign with instructions on door to lobby. Further if the Driver had been here he would have left a note and there is no note. We reached a person on the phone who said she would instructor the dispatcher to instruct the driver and that delivery would be tomorrow between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM

I got wine earlier this week.  Looked at the UPS guy through the window and, given that I look just a tad over 21, he waved and left the wine.

Was it Walter?

I know one of the regular UPS guys very well. Do not know the Fed Ex guys who are always changing.

So yesterday we were told the delivery would be today between 8 AM and 2 PM and the driver and dispatcher would be given specific instructions. So at about 1:45 the delivery having not arrived I went downstairs and waited. Fed Ex did not show.

I came up, called Wine Library and cancelled the Order. They were most helpful and said I would get a credit.

NOW AS I STARTED TYPING I received a call from the Fed Ex  warehouse saying that since three deliveries had been attempted the delivery was returned to there and I could go there to pick it up or it could be sent to a nearby Fed Ex office. I replied that either were further away than the Wine Library itself and that I had just told WL to cancel. He and I had a cordial conversation and he apologized.

End ( I hope) of saga.

No.  Haven’t even him in a while.

He was here a couple of times last week.  He makes my day, particularly now.

I hope so too. At least you're still alive. Jeez.

We miss Walter and were getting a little concerned. Glad he’s been up by you.

We ordered from Gary in Madison . They put it in your trunk . Very easy and fast .

They also do that at the wine library - the trunk thing
