Electronic components store?

Does anyone know of a small (old fashioned, perhaps) electronic components store in the greater South Orange or even NJ area?

I increasingly find myself more and more looking for small parts as part of robotics and other tinkering (one of my many interests, and something I'm increasingly exposing my tweenagers to), and it's a drag ordering everything over the internet (and then having to wait a few days). Stuff like resistors, capacitors, LEDs, switches etc.

A little more than the basics, in order words, something with a better assortment than RadioShack. Does such a store still exist?

https://www.sparkfun.com/ is likely your best bet or do overnight from Amazon. I don't think anybody stocks that stuff any more, even in NYC...

Radioshack stopped being 'that" store 15 years ago. My quick goto place is Greenbrook Electronics. Other than that, Amazon and a few other websites.

The closest thing you will get:

Lashen Electronics, 21 Broadway, Denville, NJ 07834 (973) 627-3783

MicroCenter in paterson had a DIY aisle with some basic robot parts many resistors and diodes and switches (they're big into modding raspberry pis and other mini computers and board based systems) 3% urban enterprise sales tax zone as well

You might be interested in this place in Totowa...

I go online, http://www.mouser.com/m_Home.aspx hard to find any local shops that stock everything. Also the quality is better there then others.

Yep. It has been there forever, and has always had more selection than Radio Shack did, even back in the old days. It's a bit of a drive though.
