Election results?

Welp.

Here we go. Who's got popcorn?

Florida is close

Beto could be the surprise of the night

NBC and The Hill are calling it for Menendez. I'm not sure how they make their calculations.

Looking like a 2016 re-run unless CA can carry all its House races.

 ?

Looks like projections holding, Republicans will probably hold Senate. Illinois picked up Dem governor over Republican incumbent, so that's something.

Indiana incumbent Dem Senator just lost. Hint: don't tout how in-sync you are with Trump in your ads if you want people to turn out.

80% chance of house democratic control

Not seeing a Blue Wave. Blue Puddle is probably too pessimistic. What's in between?

Blue Splash. Blue Ripple.

I'll take a Blue splash if it means control of the house even by one vote.

Mikie Sherrill has an early strong lead.

This election has been a huge win for democrats - we've seen several new leaders emerge that successfully energized the base with positive campaigns - O'Rourke, Abrams and Gillum.

Ugh - they called it for Ted Cruz.

BETO - 2020!

Unfortunately it looks like all three lost. All the better for 2020, in my opinion.

Agree with "win" not sure I agree with "huge." There are good stories - more women in House, including Muslims and I think a Native-American. Obviously taking the House and some state houses such as Illinois, Michigan and (more surprisingly) Kansas. As Van Jones said on CNN, it is an exciting entry of a generation of new potential leaders in the Dem party. In FL a referendum will give the vote to many ex-prisoners, which might help there in 2020.

But for Republicans to actually gain seats in the Senate, and to win state houses in Ohio and FL, and African-Americans losing state house bids in FL, GA and MD - all of this after a 2016 presidential election which shocked a lot of people, a president who has been lying for two years, ignoring climate change and so on, and his disregard (if not hate) for women and others - I'm pretty discouraged.

R governors in FL and OH (huge swing states) will be a problem in 2020.

Trump is on track to lose about 35 house seats.  Obama lost 60+ in his first term.  Trump will claim victory.

I wonder if McCaskill is second guessing her support of Trump's ideas of what to do with the caravan.

MI has legalized pot. My summer vacation spot!

It's big if Scott Walker loses.

Well, this morning at 3 am I woke up and decided to take a peek,  I can’t understate the relief I am feeling that the House swung blue.  It may not have been a blue tsunami but for the next two years we can count on a major check on the Trump agenda.  It’s easy to feel disappointed about things like the governor’s races in Florida, Ohio and Georgia, especially because of how tantalizingly close they were.

It’s important for democrats to keep moving forward, organizing and fundraising for the next two years.  Impeachment is now a more real possibility but conviction is even more doubtful unless Mueller comes forward with video of Trump and Putin at Mar-A-Lago plotting how to deploy an army of Twitterbots and paid trolls, ending with Putin handing Trump a suitcase of money and a burner cell phone.  Even then I don’t think this Senate would convict him.

If you want to feel better, imagine a morning in which Republicans still control both chambers, but now a bunch of Republicans who were willing to stand up to Trump are gone.

Correct... Hardly a tsunami, but Trump's days of setting an agenda with impunity are nevertheless over. AND, if you're a Cabinet Secretary or other slimeball Trump appointee, you'd best lawyer up... Interesting days ahead! #;0)

More like a blue dribble ....

Thanks Schumer.

He lost. Big win for the Democrats going into 2020 in Wisconsin.

Florida ballot measure passed, for restoration of voting rights to people who were convicted of felonies but served their time.  It was a vestige of the Jim Crow era of voter disenfranchisement.  It will change results in Florida going forward.

Hopefully the ballot measure will be implemented in a timely fashion. There are a few ways I could see for state or local officials to delay former felons getting registered.

I think this would be a smart use of money by the DNC. Get legal help down there and get a massive re-registration effort underway NOW. It's something like a million people who couldn't vote before. This is part of the long game we need to play. Florida is crucial. The formerly disenfranchised can swing the balance. And focus on the Puerto Rican folks who moved there after Hurricane Maria. Help them get registered starting YESTERDAY.

A caveat about comparing 2010 and 2018: Congressional redistricting after the 2010 census raised the bar that Democrats had to clear, starting in 2012.

Here's yer GOP: two under indictment win races.
