Early computer era cultural artifact

I’m assembling school supplies and found an old metal ruler of my father’s in a desk drawer.  Took a good look at it for the first time.  It is a solid metal 16” ruler from NCR, with multiple scales.  What I only noticed today is that one of the scales is number of cards (150 per inch), presumably making it easy to measure lines of code!
