Dropped I Phone 4 in Dog's Water Bowl

So yesterday, I did this. I turned off phone after 1st checking to see if it still worked (I now know I shouldn't have done that); phone has been in a bag of rice for 24 hours with power off.

Has anybody had success with this approach? I'm planning on turning it on soon.

Thank you.

Soon is not good. Wait 48-72 hours.

Agreed; wait longer, longer than you'd think. At least it's just water (and maybe some residual slobber).

Keeping my fingers crossed for you. This happened to me. I turned it on more than a few times to see if it was working before I knew that was a no-no. I started with rice, then moved to Damp-Rid packets for a few days. The tiny bit of water that got in the open ports on my Otter Box case did the damage. Found a guy in Massachusetts for a total of $48 for overnite shipping who did this (from his email):

>I had to replace the battery, disassemble the phone, clean all the connectors and logic board.

> It was turning on and off every 15 - 30 minutes after the battery replacement which meant water damage, so I took the whole phone apart and cleaned all the components including the logic board. I let it sit overnight to dry and assembled it this morning. Its been 2.5 hours and the phone hasn't turned off yet. Im going to give it 1/2 the day before I ship it. Im pretty sure its fixed.

The problem is that the new battery, direct from his contacts in China, is horrible. He saved my bacon, but a year and a half later I think it's time to retire my 4S soon.

Thanks all...I now realize how dependent I am on this thing and I kind of hate myself for it, lol.

Its an old phone and I was planning to replace it in September so that might just be happening sooner (as in today).

Dropped mine in the toilet once. It actually sat in there for a 10 seconds or so while I decided how important it was to me. Took it out and sat it on top of my dehumidifier overnight and it was none the worse for wear.

Mine also went for a swim in the toilet. A few days sitting in a bowl of rice (and blissful peace from the thing not ringing!) and it was just fine. Mine is an iPhone 4S. Good luck!

Woof! Can you hear me now

The bag of rice definitely works but I think leave it in for a while. I left mine in for 4 days. It survived!

Whatever you do, don't let the dog drink from that bowl until you clean & refill it! God knows where that phone has been...
