Disappointed by TRAINWRECK

I LOVE Amy Schumer; I think her work can be hysterically subversive but the movie was NOT. The first half was funny and a bit risky/risqué but in the end it was a not-very-well-written RomCom with a potty mouth. I still admire her and hope her next effort is better.

My expectations are pretty low for these kinds of movies, so I am usually pleased. I anticipate the same for Trainwreck.

Haven't seen it, but I think it's difficult to translate a stand-up voice to film or tv unless you're also the director, which in this case she wasn't.

I was pleasantly surprised by it. It was a lot smarter than the trailer made it out to be. Performance-wise, everything felt authentic, other than the intern character. John Cena and LeBron James are hilarious, but I was surprised most of all by Colin Quinn, I think.

As a summer rom-com, I enjoyed it. Not as biting as most Inside Amy Schumer skits, but still worth seeing.

even Richard Pryor toned it down for his movies (or was toned down)...he made more money that way. Eddie Murphy too comes to mind.

hankzona, this was not "toned down." It jes' weren't too good.

I thought it was a very fuuny movie, with some realistic portrals. I think we all know people, men & woman who are "trainwrecks" in that sense.....

I was pleasantly surprised by the movie also. Some laugh out loud moments, some romcom stuff, some sad moments... All together a fun movie. Oh, and Tilda!!!

For the record: - The thread title "Disappointed by Trainwreck" is pretty funny all by itself.

I hate it when rubberneckers are fussy.

Tilda is always marvelous. She was so good in 'Snowpiercer' (2013). I recommend you see it if only for her performance.

"Set in a future where a failed climate-change experiment kills all life on the planet except for a lucky few who boarded the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe, where a class system emerges."

It's great action and violent dystopian fun. And Tilda is so over the top and fun. She really can do anything.

I thought it was really good, better than I expected. I do agree the first half was better than the second half. I saw the movie in a SOPAC packed theater and I can say that there was a lot of audience laughter throughout the whole film, which is basically what I am looking for when watching a comedy.

I too was disappointed by it. I did not think the writing was very smart and did not get any real chemistry with the cast. To me it was an overdone SNL skit

Yeah, big Amy Schumer fan but the movie was "meh". A few funny lines but certainly will not rank up with the classic Jud Apatow films. Sad because i want her to do well, she is very funny.

Agreed, I found the movie to be a little funnier than Meh but just barely. Bill Hader seemed miscast and I'm a huge fan of his usually.

Interesting, as I'm NOT a Bill Hader fan, but thought he pulled it off wonderfully. I totally got the chemistry between them. Though nowhere as provocative as her show, I thought it was a fine movie.
