Democratic Debate #3

I'm starting this early so people can put in their predictions.  This is the first debate on one night, and I'm sorry that Tulsi did not get to be included because I think she would have made much better contributions than the other people who are polling in the same general range, such as Amy Klobuchar.

I am hoping Bernie is in fighting mode because I think they will all be going after him and the questions will be framed horribly and the other candidates will get questions asking them to attack him (last time they asked Buttigieg if Sanders was too old to run).

I read on twitter that Yang is going to pull some kind of stunt:

https://twitter.com/deathbymonkies/status/1172137238249033734

So, look for that.  I think he will attack Bernie as "outdated"

I think Harris is going to go for another big dramatic moment to save her divebombing campaign.

I think Warren may get some uncomfortable questions about her finances, from other candidates, not MSM.

Buttigieg will continue to speak in inspirational flowery sentences and say nothing but do it better than Beto who has been warned not to swear.  Beto has been saying the F word a lot lately and thinking that might be the magic touch he needs.  He needs to drop out.

I am home today with a stomach virus so I might not even end up watching it. I will try to post if I can.

I am listening to Progressive videos making predictions.  This one is specifically about Bernie and I think he nails it the best.

More predictions:   Mike thinks Warren and Sanders will continue to work together against the centrists. He thinks Booker and Buttigieg need to make something happen.

Jordon thinks Kamala Harris will come after Warren because she pulls the same voters as Harris: wealthy educated voters.

Hey, I was just starting the thread!   Trying to get things going here.  Let's hear from some others.  What do you think is going to happen tonight?

  oh oh

I see the name Elizabeth. Crowds cheering.....

Good to see the stage limited to the viable candidates.

do you think starting a thread with 3 completely partisan videos is a good way to start?

Here's my prediction - you will incessantly prop up Bernie on this thread an diss everyone else.

The purpose of starting the thread was so everyone could put in their predictions and discuss what they think will happen at the debate.  So, I started with that first, and no surprise I'm most interested in Sanders and Warren.  Why don't you let us know what you think will happen?  Who are you supporting these days, anyway?

99.9% of us don't need to watch other people's opinions - it's a very Bernie bot thing to do.

I have no expectations- I prefer to watch the debate and listen to what the candidates have to say.  I guess you tend to like the Bernie hype videos - it's a very MSM behavior - except that's it's for your candidate.

Only Sanders supporters care about other people's positions?  Where is the evidence for that?   That's just silly.

Every media outlet is going to put out commentary and predictions for the debate.  I started this thread with some independent media. It was not all about Bernie.  One video was about him, and another was about Warren and the third was about all the candidates.  None of these videos "hype" Bernie.  They gave honest appraisals of his challenges going into the debate.

I'm sure you will be listening to some commentary somewhere.  I find it difficult to believe that your ideas are formed entirely in isolation.

ok, is it fair to say that you post 50 Sanders-centric videos for every video someone posts one for any other candidate - would this be accurate?  Maybe you can show me other video posts, maybe I missed them.  I can think of a few pro-Pete videos - and many anti-biden one.  Other then that - it's mostly your progressive vloggers who found their niche with the Bernie crowd.

No, that would not be fair.  I looked over my video postings for the past week or so and they were mostly about Elizabeth Warren and Jeffrey Epstein.  And there were more like 7, not 50.  There was one of Bernie's speech on climate change (did you watch!).

Actually, 14.

I'm flattered that you took the time to count.  Did you make a list of how many were about Bernie?

I am very grateful to be attending book group meeting tonight.

I'm really seeing very little value in the debates this time around (anybody else feeling that way?). I really prefer longish interviews (talking about you, NPR) by people with valuable questions. imo the debates (what I've read about them) seem to have deteriorated into sound bites and gotchas, possibly because of the format with so many onstage, also the general gutterization of discourse, as modeled by current president.

edited to add: But yeah, no doubt i will read this thread at some point.

edited again: Cross-posted in the other debate thread (sue me grin).

Ok, I got some more info on Yang's possible gimmick and this guess is not far off:

Andrew Yang Plans To Give Out $1,000 A Month to 10 Families. That May Be a Violation of Election Law, Experts Say

Sounds like a televangelist. Send a donation and you get a chance to get $12,000 a year for 8 years.

OMG, I'm watching and Kamala Harris is channeling Mariane Williamson.

Biden on healthcare.  He is lying about Medicare for All.  Bernie and Warren set him straight.

No.  Would have had to watch them for that.  Can't rely on titles or screen captures for determine "substance" if your videos.
