Interesting. That is not what their website says, as of yesterday’s update. The website says 1A plus law enforcement and fire personnel, with documents to prove it. It also says that it is for people who get their care at SMG and are in the appropriate groups.

Don't know whether vacines are available for all in the appropriate catergory, or just SMG patients.
Stay well

Tried to talk to someone about the vaccine over at Summit Medical Group and possibly make an appointment, depending on what they had to say. Listened to a lengthy recorded explanation of eligibility, etc., then was told that there were too many people waiting on the line and the caller should call back later. Don't relish the thought of calling again. There was a discussion of SMG on Nextdoor the other day -- apparently it's now owned by CityMD.
I think that it's the other way around. I believe that SMG acquired CityMD a little while ago.
Don't call the FP urgent care number (973-404-9780). The site doesn't make the appointments. The direct number of SMG's Covid vaccine site, 908-739-3200, was so overloaded with calls that I couldn't even get in the queue. What worked for me: I called my primary care doctor, selected option 6, and spoke with someone who was able to make appointments for both me and my spouse. The appointments are at the end of February for the first shots and the end of March for the second shots, but at least we have appointments. Good luck to all.
Assuming others here got this today from SMG:
Dear SMG Patient,
Recent eligibility changes for the COVID-19 vaccine have created a
massive spike in demand for the vaccine. AT THIS TIME WE ARE NOT ABLE TO
ACCOMMODATE ADDITIONAL VACCINE APPOINTMENT REQUESTS. We are working
hard to secure more vaccine doses and expect that supplies will increase
in the weeks and months ahead. We encourage you to check the website
frequently for updates.
Because vaccine supply is so limited, we are asking all patients to follow these guidelines:
The volume of appointment requests via phone and through our patient portal
is limiting our ability to care for patients who need both sick and
well visits.
We will contact eligible patients as soon as we are able to vaccinate
you. Until then, any attempt to contact us will simply make it harder
for all patients to schedule regular or critically necessary care.
We know that getting vaccinated is very important to you. There are a
number of state and local agencies that are working hard to vaccinate as
many eligible people as possible and you can find more information
here: https://covid19.nj.gov/pages/vaccine.
We apologize for the frustration this situation is causing but the
vaccine supply is beyond our control at this point. Thank you for your
patience and for being a loyal Summit Medical Group patient.
I applaud SMG for sending such a clear communication (even if we all wish for a different answer).
The State COVID website has a list of medical providers, not just Summit Medical Group, who are receiving vaccine. These providers are now taking appointments and/or wait listing their patients who are eligible for the vaccine. I was able to call my medical provider, not Summit Medical Group, last evening and get on the wait list. A friend discovered that this is not just for PCP. If any of your doctors are affiliated with any of the providers on the list, this may be a good option for you.
My wife and I got an e-mail early Thursday pm to call the office number and use a specific prompt. We did and got a March 2 and March 30 app for shots within 5 minutes. We are 1c but when we tried to schedule last week at our Essex county site due to the questionnaire were told we needed to go to our PCP.
Am grateful we are scheduled. Now to be sure of supply.
This administration just excels at incompetence!

I don't think it's fair to blame the Governor. There was no coordinated federal plan. Every state is kind of winging it. No one has experience administering this level of vaccination.
Plus, the recent change by the CDC to regroup parts of 1C into 1B is turning an already difficult situation into a real clusterflock.
It may seem like NJ is a s*it show with this but other places are much worse. I know that's not much comfort. My ex lives in Alabama (first mistake) and he has diabetes and is overweight. He cannot get any information about where to get the vaccine, when it will be available -- anything.
The whole thing is a bad situation that has been exacerbated by the abysmal response and planning by the feds.
Sorry to read that SMG booked all availability so quickly. I posted the info when I got home after seeing a Doc at a different SMG location.
Happy to read that so many people are signing up; let's hope they show up.

West Virginia has almost completed giving their nursing home residents both shots. New Jersey has vaccines set aside for nursing home residents. Vaccines don’t do any good still sitting in a bottle.
As far as other states doing worse than New Jersey, 19 states are doing a worse job than we are. Meanwhile 30 states have managed to get more of their vaccines into residents.

My barb was unclear. NJ and Essex are doing quite well.
The Trump Administration has fuxxed this up!

whoops. my bad.
I am scheduled at the Sears site 1/23 and 2/20 . My wife is 2/3 and 3/1 .
Early in the morning is a good time to get on the site and try to get a date .
As a sort-of side note:
I really could never have imagined that I would one day be saying "I got my pandemic vaccine shot at Sears!"

The last time I checked, New Jersey had only used 36% of the vaccines they had received.

Yep, but apparently I’m wrong for being upset by this, and also by the fact that our nursing home residents are still waiting for their shots while West Virginia has almost completed vaccinating their nursing home residents. I was just told to get off my high horse. Apparently we’re supposed to be happy with this low of a percentage nearly a month into the vaccination effort.
I don't think it should be a pissing war between states. The feds fell down big time and now the states are taking the heat for the fact that they do not have enough money, nor effective leadership and direction, so all are having to (re)invent the wheel 50 times with not enough resources to do so. Every state has different issues and situations and their percentages may or may not reflect effectiveness of their leadership. (I'm not saying it doesn't but I don't think we have enough information to know.) ALL states would be doing better if we had better leadership from Washington.
We don’t have enough vaccines for people currently eligible, I get that. But nursing home residents were supposed to be first because they’re the most vulnerable population and have been extremely hard hit. A month after the vaccine has been released and given to New Jersey and those residents still have not received it. THAT is inexcusable and Murphy should be the one to answer for that, not Trump.
I hate Trump more than words can express, but New Jersey nursing home residents not receiving the vaccine more than a month after we got is it not his fault.

My understanding is that all of the nursing home doses are in the hands of CVS and Walgreens, and that Walgreens in particular has been slow to ramp up.

Quite a few times, I am asked if I got my driver's license from Sears. Why would someone ask that? Sears doesn't give out driver's licenses.
The problem seems to be that the pharmacies can't get their **** together. Time for Murhpy to propose fines for delays.

As of two days ago 15% of the doses set aside for long term care have now been administered. Over a month into the campaign. They’re obviously doing a great job. The best. No one has ever seen a vaccine campaign as great as this.
