COVID testing at Livingston

Are you guys getting tested every time you’re exposed? Here (Massachusetts) they’re telling us vaccinated folks we only have to get tested if we’re symptomatic.

This is the first time I've been tested in about a year come to think of it. It was just that the chorale does contact tracing for every rehearsal and concert and we finally had a hit. So we went into notification mode. Just to be safe my wife and I got tested since we're going to be busy around the church this weekend.

I think once you are symptomatic it’s too late. You’ve already exposed others.

Tested at Sears at 9am on 12/30. As of 1:30 pm on 12/31 still haven’t received notification that sample is at lab.

Anyone else having this experience?

Yes, FormallyJerseyJack is still waiting for his results 3 days after testing…

Timing varies widely at Livingston.  We had 3 in our family test at the same time, but the sample received notifications and the test result notifications came back at different times/days for each.  We didn't get the results for one of the tests for five days after the test day.

Wow! You could fully recover from Covid in that amount of time.

Tested at Sears right before they closed yesterday, which was before 7 PM last night. Received email today around 2:30 PM that the lab received the sample. Results to follow in 24-48 hours.

Results are taking 2 to 5 days now.

Thank you.

got my test 12/28 at 3:30, got my results (negative) today12/31 at 5 pm. I think the county is doing awfully well compared to other counties/states.

Is Livingston open 1/1 or Sunday?

Totally agree. (Still waiting but the county has done a great job.)

Are these free tests? That’s the dividing line up here in Mass. Free asymptomatic tests take 3 days, $80 asymptomatic tests take 12 hours.

I guess they figure if it’s really important you’ll pay up. Doesn’t really work out for people that don’t have $80. Just take a rapid test and roll the dice with grandma I guess.

Yes. Free testing in NJ.

I see that testing slots can be reserved daily (including Sunday) through next Saturday.  Ideally (based on upcoming travel home and return to work schedule) my spouse and I would like to get tested next Sunday.  Anyone know if they will be offering more slots every day including Sundays?

you could also request a pcr test kit to be sent to you direct from VAULT (check essex county Covid site)

I think things will speed back up with the holidays behind us

Hoping to have at least a small chance of getting results by Monday night before spouse is scheduled to return to work in-person in NYC but we want to wait the requisite (?) 5 days after we fly on Tuesday before taking the test.

They have added additional days.  We were able to get test slots for next Sunday when I logged on yesterday, so it looks like they are opening them up one week ahead.

We went to the East Orange site today and it was pretty quick and efficient.  I had noted that the "poster" said results withing 24 hours, but the voucher confirmation once we made the appointment said 3-5 business days which had me worried.  But the person who did our test said 1-2 business days.  Still hoping to hear something by end of day tomorrow but we'll see.  In general, I think I prefer the routine at the county sites, plus it appears that this is just a pop-up through January 14th.  But assuming we get the results back in a day or two, the Sunday scheduling was helpful for us this time.

Took another Livingston Mall test yesterday at 11.30am, results came in at 6.10pm, so slightly over 30.5 hours this time.

Another negative, for the record.

Our results came by email at about 2am this morning, so about 36 hours.  Considering that the samples were taken on Sunday, that was pretty good and we had succeeded in our desired timing.  My husband was ready to leave for his train when I saw the email and logged on for the results.

That being said, I'm trying to figure out the overall value of these brief pop-ups.  This one in East Orange is just two weeks, ending this Friday according to the poster.  It worked great for us and I assume was helpful to residents in the area who needed a test during this time and might have had more difficulty getting to one of the county sites.  But not an ongoing solution for anyone like the county sites are.

We were told Monday that EO would be there until at least January 31.

Good news, especially for EO residents.  We'll keep that in mind, especially if we feel a need for Sunday testing at some point.  Otherwise, I think that the Sears location is a little easier for us, but we found them pretty much equally efficient once there.

Sears is now closed for vaccination and testing - in case you didn't get the call from Joe.

The old Kmart on Prospect in West Orange is open for testing and boosters! Got my 4th, yesterday at 2:30pm. No wait. Walk in.

What's the word on second boosters? Is there official guidance from CDC? I couldn't find anything.

there was an article saying that for the immune compromise, a booster was suggested after 3 months (had been 5).  They seem to wear off in 4 months.  I am just past 4 months and am waiting on the booster until it looks like there is another major wave coming so that I am not losing effectiveness when I need it most.  while I have immune dysfunction, i do have an immune system....if I had something like transplant meds or autoimmune meds that suppressed the immune system, i would get the booster ASAP.
