Converting a wood burning fireplace to gas?

Any experience with this?  (Never thought I would consider it, but life and time march on...)

All and any comments welcomed

TIA

Yes we did this, and it's been great. A wood fire may be lovely, but it doesn't make a lot of heat and can be kind of a pain in the neck -- you have to lay in wood, clean up afterwards, and I was always afraid to go to bed unless I had doused it. Our gas fireplace turns on and off with a remote, and puts out a great deal of heat. It will work in a power failure! We used the Fireplace Place in Summit.

We had ours converted 20 years ago by the Fireplace Place in Summit. We love it. Each morning we have coffee in front of the fire and then turn it off to go to work.

Only thing we miss is the small of a real wood fire.
