Charging accessories for iPad Pro 11 (USB-C)?

I have an iPad Pro 11 (the one that was new last year) which has a USB-C type charging cable rather than Lightning. (Good move on Apple's part, I suspect, but I wish they had just done that instead of Lightning from the get-go.) I have the charger plug and cord that came with the iPad, but would like to have at least one spare. I have several charging blocks for "normal" USB plugs (Anker brand as well as a couple of the Apple brand charging cubes that came with my old iPhone 6 and my current iPhone Xs and Apple Watch.) I have several USB to Lightning cables that I use with those charging blocks for my phone. Can I just purchase a USB to USB-C cable and use those charging blocks or are they not compatible?

Perfectly compatible but the phone blinks may not be high enough wattage/voltage to charge the iPad. 

I've noticed when connecting my ipad Air 2 to my laptop it will say "not charging" but after a while I see that the battery percentage has risen.

I think if you get a USB-C cable you should find some of those charger blocks work, although they may not charge as fast as the block you got with the Pro. It might provide up to 18W whereas older iPad blocks were 10W or 12W.

 I got the ‘Not charging’ when I plugged it into the USB-C charger for my husband’s phone and it did creep up slowly, but I was concerned that it might not be good for the battery to do that (?)

I’d really like to find a fairly compact multi-port charging block that I could plug all the devices (iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch) into at the same time and that would provide the fast charge (is that USB-C ‘PD’?) for the iPad and be safe (MFI?) for them all.

Slow charging is actually better for your battery. So popping it on a slow charger and letting it charge all night is not a bad way to go!

I charge my iPad 2017 with a regular phone charger cube most of the time. No issues.

Buy a USB-C charger. It's better than adapters.
