Carmel Car now charging tolls to EWR?

Has anyone else experienced this?  We have used Carmel to take us to EWR for years, and this past trip they charged us a toll ($22.62) for a trip from Maplewood to EWR.  I complained, and spoke to many different people, but ultimately lost the battle.  Their reason -- the driver has to drive from NYC and also return there, and so the appropriate tolls are added to our otherwise toll-free trip.  I informed them that I would now start using a local service which didn't need to travel from NYC.  (They didn't seem to care.)

So, any recommendations for a reliable local taxi/car service to the airport?

We're not regular Uber users, but the times that we've used that service for a car to the airport they've been timely and reliable.

Marigold Life Works offers that service. I also do that drive for lots of folks. Long story.

Uber or Lyft is the best way to get to EWR from Maplewood.
I have never had an issue getting a car within 10-15 minutes, even at 4 or 5 a.m.
