Can you identify the animal?

Found in backyard....wondering if it was the bear

looks small for bears, which usually make mounds. raccoon?

Looks like Raccoon to me. You would be able to identify Bear because the odor is fetid.

we also have the odd fox or coyote trotting through our towns. Is it possible it is one of those?

We haven't moved into this house yet....I'm thinking raccoon is probably likely. Thanks for the input.

Here is a handy guide---there is no size reference on your photos, but I am pretty sure it is not bear---might be coyote though (or raccoon)

Stray dog? And yes, size reference would help.

We have found bear scat in our yard twice in the past week, and one of our fish is missing:<(.

A couple of weeks ago, we found squirrel droppings in our bedroom. Yuck. This was in Ulster County, NY.

Double yuck! That would really freak me out.

I saw a family of racoons near Cumberland & Rynda the other night, was this anywhere near there? I also just saw one of the babies dead on S Ridgewood about an hour ago

We are on Jefferson, near Ridgewood. I'm sorry to hear about the baby racoon. The racoons are always getting into our garbage cans, but I really don't mind them. Bears are a different story. They frighten me. ETA - link to photo of ber scat - http://icwdm.org/inspection/BlackBrownDroppings.aspx

Pretty sure bears do that in the woods.

Looks like raccoon scat, but I'm not an expert. grin

Grahamb ha ha ha ha! Good one
