Broadchurch

Who watched this series? Spoilers ahead... (do we need to say that if it's not a new show?)

We finished season 1 and really enjoyed it! But I have to say, I'm let down with the first episode of season 2 and I'm wondering about the direction.

The fact that the murdered is pleading not guilty means they're going to re-hash all of the townspeople's various misdeeds and secrets. I feel like we just did that in Season 1, right? I don't know that I want to see this again; it was sad and messy enough the first time. If anyone has finished season 2, can you tell me if it's worth it? Does it take a new and interesting direction?

I enjoyed Season 2 very nearly as much as Season 1, but I did not watch them back-to-back; that might make a difference. It's been awhile since I saw it, but I don't recall feeling like it was a rehash.

It's worth it!  I was surprised that they went there as well, but it was really, really good.  There's going to be a 3rd season as well, and I'm really not sure how they're going to pull that off.  Such a great show.

yes, it's worth it.  it's not a rehash.  the trial is a continuation of season 1, and the Gillespie murder investigation is mostly new, since there was only relatively brief reference to it in season 1.

Agree with all of the above.  Watch it!

I loved both seasons, but I have no idea what they can do in a third season. I also fear that the David Tenant character is going to die of the heart condition they keep talking about.

Just finished season 2 tonight. It was excellent, but heartwrenching...it was a rehash in some ways and rough to watch these characters' lives get torn up again. I really liked the resolution though, as much as one can in a show like this.

I never really cared all that much about the Sandbrooke case in either season though.

I am very curious about season 3. I assume it would have to be an entirely new story...

The ending of season one was excellent, with the fires lit around the rim of the bay.
