Breaking News - grocery stores open for 60+ from 6-7:30am

geez, March 9 feels like ancient history already.

some locations have people lined up outside....this is supposed to be for people that can't deal with crowds, yet they are forced to stand outside in crowds.  I heard of 1 big box store only allowing 10 people in at a time....while dozens stood close together outside......

The people lined up outside are supposed to stand at least 6 feet apart.  Problem is that some cannot stand for the length of time required to enter, shop, and leave the store.  These persons should, if possible, ask for help from someone more mobile who can shop for them.  Such resource is available at this time.  The idea behind allowing only a few persons in the store at one time is to enable shoppers and store employees to maintain social distancing.

At Trader Joe's today (not in NJ), i was really impressed with the system they have developed:

First wait outside, 6 ft. apart.  When a shopper comes out of the store, the outdoor employees wipe down the cart and let another shopper in, asking pleasantly that people not buy huge quantities.  I was shopping for myself and for a friend, and there was no problem with, eg, 2 for her, 1 for me.  Inside, not crowded, and well stocked.  TP was "behind the counter" as if Penthouse, you have to ask for it but the supply looked good.  Checking out, line up (at the good distance) in wines, then someone calls you to a register, where you stand behind a tape line on the floor till time to pay.

Big compliments/applause for TJ!  Good care for both customers and employees.

(my own tiny contribution here is that i'm using small plastic bags for gloves, easier to pull on and off than gloves and totally disposable.  down side is, this gives me an excuse to keep saving plastic bags...)

I haven't been in TJ's for about 2 weeks although I'm a regular csutomer. I've stayed away because it's a small store and difficult to maintain social distancing. I did read that TJ's is only allowing 50 people in at a time. I haven't been there since they instituted this policy. Has anyone been there recently and how is it?

Thanks
