There will be a Protest Demonstration outside the venue at, I believe, 12:00 Noon.
The venue is Nanina's in the Park. That is Branch Brook Park in North Newark on the Belleville Town line, across from Clara Maas Hospital.
I've come to believe that this is who Booker is. He lost my support a long time ago.

He lost mine when he voted to prohibit the purchase of drugs from Canada.

You see, I understood that because he represents a lot of pharmaceutical workers who might have been negatively impacted by that law. Taking money from Joey D though is a bridge to far.
Dirty, dirty, dirty......
Booker lost my support when he defunded the Newark Public Library and closed branches when he was mayor. Then he had the chutzpah to say in 2016 at an American Library Association meeting "Libraries are an essential bedrock of this democracy and ensure that we as a nation are who we say we are."

This is when I gave up on him as well. I called his office about that vote but by that time it looked pretty clear to me as to who he is and who he takes his money from. (Also supports charter schools or at least did in the past.)

Did he lie? Then, I read that he did it to protect us from "unsafe" Canadian drugs.
Anyway its bs even if he did claim he's saving pharmaceutical jobs. That's a Trump thing, let me save American jobs by preventing importation. In Trump's case by using tariffs and other means. Lets save American coal miner jobs by building coal plants, etc.
People have died because they can't afford drugs. Plus, just how much profit will make big pharma happy?
Quinn Nystrom, a leader of T1International’s Minnesota chapter, said on May via Twitter that the price of insulin in the United States per vial was $320, while in Canada the same medication under a different name was $30.
The caravan numbers at approximately 20 people, according to Nicole Smith-Holt, a member of the group. Smith-Holt said her 26-year-old son died in June 2017 because he was forced to ration insulin due to the high cost. This is Smith-Holt’s second time on the caravan.
But, hey, its OK because we're "saving" American jobs.
American caravan arrives in Canada for cheaper medicine
Sorry, he shilled for big pharma.

BG9, at this point, I am not going to spend a millisecond defending Booker. The dude is dead to me. I was just saying that I understood why a US Senator from NJ might not support that bill.
I posted this on another thread and full disclosure I've been a Booker fan for years so yes I'm looking at things through a sympathetic lens but here it is.
Also a later proposal.
https://www.booker.senate.gov/?p=press_release&id=767
The most extensive gun legislation and clemency for non violent drug offenders. Legalize pot, a plan to break up Big Ag etc.
I think its worth looking at him as I could see him being a VP pick for a Warren ticket.
I'm pretty pragmatic about bad votes. Booker, Biden, and everyone else has made bad deals.
Its always a trade off and I'll lose it if we have another 4 years of Trump so I'm in an all is forgiven mode for all of the candidates.
The Joey D fundraiser is just a bridge too far for me. I will vote for him in the General but I can’t support him unless he returns that money.
I'm not concerned with Joe D, who at least is an elected official and build a damn nice piece of public works at South Mountain, but sucking up to Norcross is the bridge too far for me.

I take it you live in Maplewood. Leaving aside our local county operated Camp Trump, the way Joey D tried to interfere in SO municipal elections was shameful. The guy is a POS.

W.O. is part of Essex County and Joe D. is milking our county for every penny. He collects a salary and a pension from the same employer. Yes, I know it's allowed but it's really sleazy.
He's turning South Mountain Reservation into a cheesy entertainment complex and he gave a sweetheart deal to McLoone, a political supporter, for the lease on the restaurant.

drummerboy: If you'd been paying ANY attention at all to SO's recent pre & post-election discussions here on MOL, you'd be aware of our County Democratic Machine's attempt to subvert the process in favor of DDF.
BTW, I also live in WO, and was/am a solid Sheena supporter, so of course I was appalled by the ham-handed (& ultimately doomed) attempts to swing oblivious Villager voters to DDF.
Do you follow local WO politics? Have you checked out "The 52" on FB?

Do you have a link for The 52? Couldn't find it via search.

For some low income families, the neighborhood libraries that Booker closed were their only access to the internet. School children used those libraries extensively for help with their school work.

NJ Globe: George Norcross and Joey D to host Cory Booker fundraiser
I haven't really favored Booker in the Presidential race thus far but I lost whatever respect I might have had for him when I read this.
His office number is (973) 639-8700 Give him a call if this disgusts you as much as it disgusts me.
