Best way to get to Prospect Park (Brooklyn) Band shell tonight?

I am heading in for an event at the bandshell in Prospect Park--have to meet people at the 7th Ave. F stop at 6:30 pm. What's the best way to get there? Should I try driving? We'll be out fairly late so driving would be ideal if possible, but I don't know about traffic, where to park etc. Otherwise I will take NJT/F train, which will be fine on the way there but not so great on the way back.

I've taken the train-subway there, and on the way back taken a green taxi (which you can call via Uber) back to Penn Station, for the sake of speed. I remember that it was around $35 on a weekend night. (You pay the driver directly, and Uber takes a $2 or $3 charge through the app.)

Check ahead if you're planning to take the F -- it has been rerouted in Manhattan some weekends to run on the A line. Or just take the A to Jay Street MetroTech and change to the F there.

When I drive I take 78 to the Turnpike South to exit 13 to the Goethals, Verrazano bridges, and then the BQE to Prospect Expressway. You will probably find street parking fairly easily if you don't mind a walk of a couple of blocks. The Seventh Ave. F stop is close to Methodist Hospital, and there are a couple of garages there.

My experience driving has been pretty awful on the weekends, with frequent backups across SI. I think I'd take the train.

Enjoy the event! And keep an eye out for a tree near the stage that may still be adorned with a WFMU t-shirt. My sister has officially adopted it through the park service as a memorial to my late brother in law, who saw a million shows there, and somebody tied the shirt onto it for a service we had there earlier this month.

Will do, thanks! The event is the 20th anniversary screening of my friend Jennie Livingston's film Paris is Burning. I think it will be especially festive given today's news!!
