Best film I've seen in a while...

"White Girl."

Written and directed by Elizabeth Wood.

Saw it at the Angelika over the weekend. I don't know if it's playing out here anywhere but it's a harrowing, realistic and at times shocking tale of sex, drugs and class privilege. Takes place in NYC; about a young white college student, a hottie, and the horrific trouble that swirls around her with very little repercussion for her. Amazingly real performances all around. Stark and unflinchingly real. Made me shudder and turn away more than once but it stayed with me for days after.

If you have college-age daughters, maybe you should take a pass. Or not.
