Berkeley Heights Fireworks TOMORROW NIGHT, 7/16!

If you don't know what these are, they are some of the best fireworks in the area. They start at 11pm during the final night of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Festival. It's a pain in the butt if you go into the park, best bet is to take the train to the Berkeley Heights Station and find a spot to hand on Springfield Avenue. DO NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO DRIVE TO THIS EVENT, you have been warned. It gets absolutely nuts with traffic before and after the event. Trust me on this, been going to this event since the mid-80's.

We've been going for the past several years. Learned about it from MOL, likely from Defcon. We get there right when the festival opens at 6. We pack a cooler and set up our chairs and blanket. We bring something to read or play until it gets too dark, then just hang out until 11.

An update for this year is that the entrance will only be off of Springfield Ave. The local side streets will not have a festival entrance. Admission is $10, and well worth it to see a fireworks show that runs over an hour.

I haven't been in a long time but they were always my favorite. One year we sat in VIP all the way up front.

ETA: We parked about a mile away last time. It was much easier getting in and out.

Another way to get, if you REALLY want to drive is to park at the Murray Hill Station, and take the train one stop to Berkeley Heights.

These really are the best fireworks in the area. If you haven't been, go.

Another awesome night at the Berkeley Heights Fireworks. Looking forward to next year already.

Thanks for the reminder of this annual event, Defcon. I drove to BH at 10:30 last night and was easily able to find parking within 1/2 mile. Wonderful finale and many pyrotechnic treats along the way. (I also sampled my first batch of fried oreos which were dangerously delicious.)

I had thought about using the train option from/to Summit but it looked like there was nothing leaving BH until 12:40 with the prior one being at 11:20. However, when I walked past the station at about midnight, there was a train ready to pull out. Does NJT put on an extra run just for this event?

Glad you had a good time, it's hard not to. They usually run a "special" train about 15-20 minutes after the show is over (show ends about 11:45-11:50), and then go back on schedule. Next time, try parking at Murray Hill, it's only one stop away, and it puts you on the outskirts of the maelstrom of exiters.
