Any Black Panther reviews?

Just curious.  Has anyone seen it yet?

from 8 year old nephew “best movie ever”. Lol

All I'm going to say is that I have never, ever, ever, gone to an opening weekend of a movie because I really don't like standing in line, especially in the cold.

Somehow, I ended up doing so in this case (had to wait in line for seats -- already had online tickets in hand), and.... it was well worth it.

If I say any more, I'm afraid I'll give away spoilers.

Oh, if you do go see it, stay to see both scenes in the credits (one is at the very very end of the credits).

Let me say first that I don't like comic book movies nor Marvel type entertainment. I went to see Black Panther, I guess because of all of the hype. (The PR firm for the film should get an award. I've not seen a film hyped like this in a long time.)

I thought it was absolutely terrible. Gibberish. Nonsense. No logic. No consistency of plot or story. Nothing made any sense. Chaos, not in a good way. Stupid. One WTF? moment after another.

I was very tempted to walk out but didn't. I did keep looking at my watch, though.

I'm sure my opinion will be in the minority, especially among those Marvel-movie fans.

FWIW: It probably helps if you've seen other Marvel movies (this one ties into the Avengers series), or have enjoyed reading comic books.

That said, it also works as stand-alone. It worked for me, and I haven't seen any superhero films since my kid took over my spot as the comic-based-movie partner for my spouse (I had my fill of most of those movies somewhere after the X-men rebooted). That said, I'm familiar enough with the genre to understand what they appear to be skimming over to make it fit into a single movie.

I'm not a comic book gal and don't know many of the characters (including these) to enter into a debate of what was true to the comic form and what was not. Think the last Marvel movie I saw was Ant Man via HBO and I really liked it more than I anticipated. Saw BP @ IMAX Lincoln Center and it was amazing. Loved the plot, the characters, the action, the music and it was visually stunning. If you are a person who digs wardrobe and make up, BP will NOT disappoint. The actors are all top notch and you will definitely recognize many instantly. No matter your hue or lack of comic book knowledge, it's a FABULOUS movie.

I liked it and my kids thought it was amazing. It's a bit long (most of the Marvel movies are) and slow at certain points.  But overall, a very good movie.

I've just grown so tired of cartwheel somersault flippy-dippy master-blaster violence no matter how good the CGI or the "story".
