It says it was identified in France but it could be from somewhere else, like Scotland.
I saw mention of the variant from France about a week ago in European newspapers. However, it has apparently only infected about 12 people; this is probably why there is little talk of this.
On the other hand, today I saw another item, which mentioned a variation consisting of Delta & Omicron 'merging' (tentatively named Deltacron). It was identified in Malta, where there have been 25 infections. The expectation is that the more contagious Omicron will dominate though.

Yeah, I saw that and just thought I cannot.
This "new variant" might or might not be a problem.

Unlike Delta and Omicron, which were quickly designated by the World Health Organization (WHO) as "variants of concern," what we know about B.1.640.2 is not enough to raise serious concerns amongst the scientific community.
