ANIMALS

With apologies to supporters of animal rights:

The Trump administration argued in Court that children in immigration custody do not have to be provided with blankets, toothbrushes or soap, in other words can be treated like animals.

It is they, Trump and his minions who are like rabid animals and should be dealt with as such.

Prisoners in Federal prisons are provided with these items as a matter of policy.  I cannot believe any court would uphold this travesty.

Let me get my head around this: they won’t let them wash, brush teeth, have bedding, etc - what about TP?  And then when lice, scabies, dysentery and other pests/diseases hit plus teeth fall out and there’s mass death not to mention what the protective personnel will be bringing home to their own families - how’s that going to play out out for the great and compassionate USA, lead defender of human rights?

Worst PR mistake in diplomacy for, maybe, 24 hours??

Joanne,

They didn't say they wouldn't, just that they can't be compelled to do so by the Court.

It's a travesty that they are arguing it.

As for a Court upholding a travesty have you read Korematsu v. US

Watch it and weep @joanne, just another day in Trump's America.

How is it possible that a person who has been to college and law school, then hired by the Justice Department can stand up in the light of day with a straight face and make these arguments?

This presidency is a disease.  Eventually we are going to need to sterilize this infestation with bleach and a flame thrower.  That day can’t come soon enough.

Without meaning to offend, this is just highlighting other persistent inequities in your society. (Mine is being revealed as not much better) The gun thing: the worship of owning at least one, then wearing & using it at will; the inequities revealed in the victimology; the trauma affecting everyone whenever there’s an incident, and that’s all the time. Then there’s the growing disparity in household incomes; and in who’s actually got a home. There’s the uneven medical and social support access, across all ages and abilities; and growing fear of those whose job is to protect you...

l’m not saying all have to have all things equally, but it certainly doesn’t appear that all have all rights to access and safety equally. Surely those are basic citizens’ rights? So it appears not all are considered equal citizens, let alone the various visitors and differing grades of intending citizens.

(Sorry. It’s taken more than an hour to write this. I must be getting a migraine - I keep leaving out important words. ) I just think what’s happening is that Awfulness and Unethicality are being highlighted but have run deep and wide for in both our nations for a long time. We need to lance the boils and clean those wounds.
