America rejoices; Cowboys spank Saints

I wore my Cowboy hat downtown this morning, and I was greeted warmly by all. "Yo DM!" "Romo the man!" "Bring on the Giants!" "The Giants are wussies!" "The Eagles are pussies!" "We love you, Cowboys!"

So much for the hateful invective expressed in another thread. Oh well, another Cowboy triumph! They are FOOT-BALL-PLAYERS, those Cowboys! L.O.L.!

It's all good, I haven't been feeling very patriotic lately anyway.

Obviously they're going to be headed to the Super Bowl this year - I see nothing that can stop them now.

(Pause for silent mirth).

I'd post the Ligeti "finger" pictures but... I'll save 'em again for a more opportune time!

Apparently the Dallas Cowboys aren't America's team anymore. According to a recent poll conducted by Public Policy Polling, the Cowboys are actually America's least favorite team.

In a poll of 741 registered voters, 23 percent of respondents said that the Cowboys were their least favorite team in the NFL. The only other team to be named by over 10 percent of respondents was the Chicago Bears, who are disliked by 13 percent of America. That number probably isn't going to do down now that Jay Cutler is locked in as the Bears quarterback until 2020.

They never were America's team. The Steelers were great at the same time and come for a city that represents so much that is great about America - gritty, hard work, not glitz like Dallas.

Wow. Even hated more than the Patriots? My oh my.

Actually, this might be good. Romo's follies are always that much more entertaining in the playoffs. The audience is so much bigger then. More memorable too.

Until we are playing, oh, China, I don't see the point in anything being "America's team." Go for your local, or the players you like, and talk trash, we all do; but everything else is just shrewd branding. It's basically a bag of chips.

I don't disagree but I felt it would be mean-spirited to bring up that particular topic. I was the Cowboys' biggest supporter last year as they drove towards the playoffs (see other thread for details) but sadly my hopes were dashed.

As a Dez Bryant fantasy owner, I was quite dismayed he could only manage 3-44-1 in a game the Cowboys put up 38 points.

In a last-ditch effort to shore up these Cowboys posts (let's just say that the fans are abandoning ship and leave it at that), I thought I'd dig into the archives a bit.

It's almost difficult for me to post this in 2015.

"The Giants are wussies" - well, maybe... ask Dez who's "running the East" these days.

"The Eagles are pussies!" - uncomfortably misogynistic, but coming from a Cowboys fan oddly appropriate.  Shame the 'Boys lost to them in such a humiliating fashion.

"Another Cowboy triumph" - hmmm... well, everything is relative.  No players released due to felonies in ages (well, weeks) - that's progress, right?

Had to edit:

"We love you, Cowboys!".  Now... unless you're in Dallas or outside a battered woman's shelter, no one actually ever says this.

Hey everybody, is this the thread about the Cowboys?

Ridski... not sure who's requiring you to read this thread, but let me know and I'll speak to them and do my best to get you off the hook, OK?

Hey, if Ridski wants to keep the glory of the Cowboys alive... why not let him?

 oh oh

For someone who's complaining about too many Cowboys threads... this is an odd strategy to say the least.  However:

I'm not quite sure that worked the way you intended, but I'm sure it would have been funny.

Oddly enough, this is the second thread I had let die... until it was resurrected.  I guess we COULD keep them all but it seems odd to me - still, I'll follow Ridski's lead here.

Keep them all! Bring some more back! Flood MOL with Cowboys threads! I'll help.
