A birthday worth noting

Katherine Johnson turned 100 yesterday. An outstanding mathematician who helped calculate trajectories for Alan Shepard, John Glenn and the Apollo 11 mission. Among many other achievements.

I saw the movie about her and her colleagues last year. Great movie.

I'm just amazed that people could actually calculate that stuff by hand.

Thank you for reminding us of her birthday. I've just read more about her life, and learnt she received an honorary Doctorate in May.

Thanks for adding the Wikipedia link, Joanne.

I loved "Hidden Figures" enough to go buy the book. It's a great story. Planning to show it to my daughter when she's a little older (9 now).

She was on stage at last year's Oscars which was quite an amazing moment.
