The rosewood Telecaster that George played on the roof is one of the rarest and most valuable guitars ever made. Initially Fender only made 2 instruments, one of which they gave to George. He used it only for a brief period of time, and gave it away to his friend Delaney Bramlett. It eventually sold at auction for a half million dollars.
Staggered to discover my older sister (married to a man with every Beatles recording possible) has no idea what ‘the roof-top concert’ is/was!
(She was in London at the time)
One of the departments of the media organisation I work for holds its annual Christmas party (weather permitting) on the roof of the building. The musos in the department form a band to entertain us. We wonder what the people in all the high-rise apartments surrounding the building are thinking when the band is playing.
And those stupid constables interfering with history trying to stop the concert.
