you understand that if that’s the call we take up, that we’ll lose, right? I’d love for it to be that but it’s not going to happen.

We shoot for gun control laws - sensible ones like over 21, no history of mental illness and no assault rifles. Right now. Today. And then we chip away after that.

I understand that any nation which starts a campaign with the thought of "when we lose, is doomed to failure"   See the article below.  Are we any less a great nation?

It's not time to discuss gun control - but it is time to pose - smile and give a thumbs up shortly after a school massacre.

Was that picture taken in Florida?

Yes - these are from Parkland.  I am a bit disturbed by his photo ops.  Maybe he should just go easy on the "thumbs up".

Wish someone could Photoshop a nurse's hat on Melania's head.

taken in this hospital where many of the murdered children were declared dead. Seems like the perfect time for a smile and a thumbs up. Fool.

those photos are pretty creepy, given the circumstances.

In some cultures, "thumbs up" is the equivalent to our New Jersey salute.  So actually, Gropenfuhrer's gesture in the photo is appropriate.

I'm only now working my way through the comments attached to the above cartoon.

Two, in particular, stand out:

From contributor foxinwinter:

I have put two things together for the first time. America's bullying, jock culture in schools which isolates and terrorises individuals who don't fit the mould: and America's gun culture and ease of gun availability.
If you have bullied adolescents in a culture where guns are freely available, you will get school shootings.
I know this because I was bullied for 8 years, unpopular, alone, and abused physically and mentally every day at school by other kids. If guns had been available to me, I would have shot my whole school up at 15, and myself too. I was so angry, distressed and nihilistic by then, I had no concept of a future, and I would have shot the non bullies, because they did nothing, they just watched and let it happen.
You can't have a bullying jock school culture plus gun culture, and NOT have school shootings.
The bullying culture in US schools is well known. They should take a hard look at that.

And from Slo27, in response to foxinwinter:

You might be interested in reading about how a teacher in the US deals with this problem. Impressive:

The RD article near brought me to tears.
