IMPROV: Free Your Creativity-Say Yes to Everything

Event Date: March 3rd, 2015 at 7:30pm - 9:30pm
Address :
Town : Maplewood
Information:

If you know about Second City Theater, SCTV, or Whose Line Is It Anyway?, then you know about improvisational theater. In addition to being an excellent training technique for actors, improvisational theater is an art and philosophy in its own right. As such, it\'s a brilliant tool for the writer who is struggling with dialogue, setting, and scene creation, but it\'s equally valuable for anyone interested in the process of discovery itself. Improv work celebrates ALL choices -- it\'s impossible to do it incorrectly. There\'s only one rule: just say \"yes\" to any and all ideas. Improv: Free Your Creativity is a safe and positive workshop. Improv \"games\" invite you to get your brain out of the way and flex creative muscles that have gone soft through over-thinking. No special equipment is necessary. Dress comfortably. This workshop is suitable for adults aged 18 and above. Workshop Leader: Lisa Phillips, has taught improv theater to all ages, ran an improv-based theater program for teens, and directed two professional touring troupes, one of which shot a pilot for HA! TV (now Comedy Central). The first week is FREE. If you decide you like what you see and want to sign up for the remaining three weeks, the fee will be $90.00.
