Learn tips to promote healthy eating and resolve control issues peacefully WEST ORANGE, N.J. – Area parents of preschool-aged children and older can learn skills to help them promote healthy eating habits and resolve control issues peacefully during a free workshop on Sunday, February 28 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Playhouse Co-op Preschool, 88 Franklin Avenue in West Orange. Dina Rose, author of “It’s Not About the Broccoli: Three Habits to Teach Your Kids for a Lifetime of Healthy Eating,” will discuss how your parenting style influences your child’s eating, how to shape family interactions so they promote healthy eating and how to resolve issues amicably. A sociologist and feeding expert, Rose has more than 15 years experience in teaching and research. The workshop is being hosted by Playhouse Co-op Preschool. “As parents, we know it can be challenging at times to encourage healthy eating habits with our kids,” said Playhouse Educational Director Lisa Korn. “By attending this workshop, parents can learn valuable tools that turn the eating experience into a positive one for the entire family.” The adults-only workshop marks the first in a series of free educational workshops for area parents. Additional workshops are planned for March and April. Playhouse is a cooperative school that encourages meaningful learning through hands-on experiences. At Playhouse, children not only develop their own skills, but also learn the problem-solving and social skills needed to work cooperatively with their peers. Established in 1951 by early childhood education expert Jeanne Ginsberg and area parents, Playhouse offers sliding-scale tuition and flexible schedules with half-day and full-day programs.
