Studio Art at the Morris Museum is pleased to offer this art and exploration workshop for adults: ++ \"Introduction to Encaustic: Collage & Mark Making\" with Lisa Pressman. ++ Saturday, February 28, 10am - 4pm. ++ This introductory workshop focuses on using encaustic medium, which is beeswax and damar resin, and combining it with mixed media and collage. We will be using the medium with assorted rice papers, materials and mark making techniques to create layers with depth and translucency. The use of collage materials, oil pastels, graphite and inks will be covered along with how to create a smooth surface, transparency, opacity and scraping. We will also cover several transfer possibilities. All of these techniques can be applied to representational work as well as abstract. Composition, editing and content will be addressed. ++ Lisa will supply all encaustic equipment (griddles, heat guns, irons, brushes), encaustic medium, some collage materials and mark making materials ($40 supply fee and a very short list).
